wow, what a day !!!!!

Northwest cancelled the flight @ 3:30 pm St Louis and then the scramble for other flights began.

After a long and hectic ordeal at the airport, 6 of the boys and Irene finally boarded a plane for Minneapolis and then to Amsterdam -- arrival 12:40 pm.
On board was: Tom Stuve, Rody, Tim Buurman, Maarten, Jeroen Meyers, Tom Menting and Irene.

The rest of the group will be staying over at Tim Tettambel's house (one of the guest families) and Jan one more night at Hotel Terry !!
The flight arrangements are departure at 5 pm to Detroit and then on to Amsterdam - arrival 11:40 am.

Jan was outstanding with his patience and determination to get everyone home as soon as possible. Therfe were many "close calls", but in the end it was 6 going home and 6 staying another day. The players were beautiful throughout the entire ordeal and took each announcement in stride. They wanted to go home, but did not mind staying over 1 more day.

Please respond as you hear from your children and as they arrive back home.

I will keep this blog active for a while so we can continue to communicate. I know the players will be emailing each other as the new friendships blossom.

I would also like to stay in touch with them for awhile to know how the experience was for them.

more tomorrow as we try again to get everyone home.

Terry

hi tim and the 6 boys,
what a day for you all! I'm happy that they are not in Detroit but with you! that's a nice thought. My nephew NIELS lives in the neighbourhoud and wanted to know if Stéfan wants to sleep with him, maybe some family would be good for him.
I hope the boys can get on the flight tomorrow and come home!!
give Stéfan a BIG hug from us all!!

lots of love and thanks a lot for everything

Dear Terry and Tim,

Perhaps this stressful event will also become an unforgettable experience after some time. We are glad the boys are well taken care of. But you can understand that we are anxious to see them home!
We wish them a safe journey.
Thanks for everything

Well, it indeed was a hectic night for us, here in Holland. We saw on tv-text the flight was cancelled and then there was the question: what to do now.Fortunelately(?) we got an email what was going on. So we could get to sleep well. But then Michelle phoned home and told us, they were still in St. Louis and would come home a day later. And luckely(?) there were Tim and Olivia to spent the night with!! Thank you so much for your concerness, and Jan, wat fijn dat je het op een goeie manier opgelost hebt en dat onder die stressvolle omstandigheden!!
We hope the flight will be smoothly tonight and we will have our kids home within one day.
Jan, jongens en meid, goeie vlucht gewenst en tot morgen,
Ruud, Anja, Jannick en Julian

Hi Terry
My mom and the boys have arrived safely!! What a sight all the kids in orange and they were soooo enthusiastic..telling us all the different stories at the same time during a brief coffee with all the parents..lots of nice presents and pictures. Thanks so much for that.
My mom says hi to you and is now telling all the stories, so I keep it short for now. Talk to you later,
Greetings,
Daniella.

Hello from STL:
just returned from CBC where Harry and Theo are running a camp for a team tonight (Sun) thru Thursday.NWA site shows the plane with the remaining Dutchies and Jan has landed in Detroit on time. So, maybe, we'll get lucky and everything goes according to plan this time around....
We miss Irene...my wife's favorite (late night) card-playing partner.
